Microlepidoptera betekent letterlijk familie der kleine vlinders. Het is een verzamelnaam voor allerlei kleine vlinders, die meestal alleen 's nachts vliegen. In de Mashut zijn minerende en niet minerende Microlepidoptera bekeken.
De onderzochte niet minerenede motten zijn eigenlijk vlinders van normaal formaat, die ook nog overdag vliegen!
Mineermotten zijn zo klein dat hun rupsen leven in gangen die ze in bladeren wegvreten, de zogenaamde bladmijnen. Elke soort knaagt een specifiek patroon in het blad waaraan ze te herkennen zijn. Naast mineermotten zijn er ook mineervliegen. De tabel van mineerders van Willem Ellis is te vinden op internet.
Antispila treitschkiella was zeldzaam, maar is sinds 2003 plaatselijk massaal op Cornus mas te vinden.
Phyllonorycter cavella is vrij zeldzaam.
